URBANIZATION AND PARKING PROJECT. GENERALITAT DE CATALONIA RAILWAYS.

PHASE 1

The project is located on a triangular site, very elongated in a north-south direction (approximately 350 m. high and 100 m. wide), comprised of Vía Augusta, Cardenal de Sentmenat, and Vergós streets.

The problem was to solve (in two phases, differentiated by the operational needs of the railways) the proper functioning of the various cross sections, due to the significant difference in elevation between Via Augusta and Vergós (around 6 m in some places). In this way, the longitudinal division of the project is divided, ensuring that they coincide in some of the two phases.

The first phase focuses on the construction of the parking lot, whose floors follow the slope of the line with the highest traffic density. The proposal is to run longitudinally, with parking spaces on both sides and a central lane.

The rest of the project responds to the requirements we have encountered over time. The roof over the train arrivals area at their hangars is positioned predetermined by the train gauge, a fixed and immutable premise. This results in a very gentle ramp, connecting the Via Augusta intersection with Cardenal de Sentmenat Street.

PHASE 2
In the second phase, the demolition of the workshop bays is planned to convert them into additional parking. The level of the “parking bays” has been considered as the level of access to the parking lot, extending them below the ramp, with access via Jaume Piquet Street. In this way, the parking accesses are located at key points, namely at the point where the new Line 9 platforms meet, and another at the intersection with Jaume Piquet Street, from which we will have two access levels: one belonging to Via Augusta and the other at the level of Cardenal de Sentmenat Street.
