INDOOR SPORTS HALL (PAV2) I.E.S. ANTONI MARTÍ I FRANQUÈS

This commission aims to provide the Martí i Franquès school with a sports center as a necessary facility for a school with so many students (it is the largest in Tarragona).

The proposed building is connected to the main entrance, creating a porch on the access road that crosses the site from side to side. This porch connects the two buildings. The sports center takes advantage of the existing section between this access to the school and the existing courtyard site, where the soccer field is located, providing access to the stands on the upper floor and to the courts on the lower floor (in contact with the school basement), thus interlacing the two buildings, with the access road running through them. This idea also aims to give sense to the central position (due to symmetry) of the main entrance, which is so far removed from the accesses to the site from the adjacent streets.
