EUROPAN III INTERNATIONAL AWARD. FIRST PRIZE

The project focuses on the design of a residential building on a site with a problematic location, adjacent to the M-30 in Madrid and in contact with the existing urban fabric. The two blocks are conceived as a single building, with continuity along its entire length, both in its floor plan layout and in the treatment of its facades, which are complementary, following the compositional rhythm.

And it is precisely in the treatment of the facades and the distribution of the rooms that the problem is solved, placing the entire night area toward the M-30, with a northwest orientation, and treating the façade as a large barrier, giving it different layers and thicknesses that allow for both acoustic and environmental insulation. The façade folds, creating a non-coincident fold on each floor, creating a unified building. The day area is placed in the opposite orientation. This façade follows the compositional character of the area, giving rise to a series of grandstands whose direction recalls the existing urban layout.
